Honor announces the Magic Watch 2 smartwatch with the Kirin A1 and LiteOS

The Honor View30 was just announced in Beijing, and alongside it saw the announcement of the Honor Magic Watch 2. The Honor Magic Watch 2 is a successor to Honor’s smartwatch released last year, and it has a number of improvements in tow. From an 800-nit display, dual-frequency GPS, and more, there’s a lot to love. It looks exactly as we expected, following leaked images from last week. The Honor Magic Watch 2 comes in two variants – a 46mm and a 42mm. Both sizes have their own colors.

The Honor Magic 2 has very few differences between its two variants. The 46mm one has a larger battery and display, though the differences pretty much end there. You get the same Kirin A1 chipset, the same 4GB of storage, and even all of the same features. You’ll get shorter battery life as a result as well, but that’s to be expected with a smaller form-factor. Both smartwatches come with an 800-nit display so that you can easily read the display even in direct sunlight. A rating of 800 nits means that the Honor Magic Watch 2 is higher than even some flagship smartphone displays. There are dual dials as well for controlling the device with ease.

Honor Magic Watch 2 pricing

You also get Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS and even VO2 support. This is Honor’s most advanced wearable yet and respectfully blows even the Honor Band 5 out of the water in terms of features and specifications. That’s to be expected with a starting price tag of RMB 1099 (~$156), but it was never going to be as cheap as the company’s other fitness-oriented wearables. The Honor Magic Watch 2 is a jack-of-all-trades smartwatch and can be used for a whole lot more. You can set a watch-face with a custom picture, for example, control your phone and take photos from your wrist, and of course, get notifications on your wrist as well. You can even use that 4GB of internal storage for music storage, and you can connect a Bluetooth headset wirelessly to your watch to listen to music. If you want, you can even play music over the device’s built-in speakers instead.

Honor Magic Watch 2 availability

If fitness is your prerogative, the Honor Magic Watch 2 has 15 fitness modes to choose from. There’s also a stress monitor, breathing guidance, and weather updates. It syncs to both Android smartphones and iPhones and can answer calls hands-free on both. It’s certainly a worthy successor to the original Magic Watch. We’ll be reviewing it soon, so be sure to stay tuned for that! The Honor Magic Watch 2 will go on sale globally on December 12th and will be available across various regions (shown above).
