Samsung Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+ receive One UI 2.5 with September 2020 security patches

The Galaxy Note 20 series, the Galaxy Tab S7/S7+, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 are the first devices from Samsung to run the latest revision of their custom Android skin, One UI 2.5. Since then, the Korean OEM has brought the new update to a couple of its high-end phones such as the Galaxy S20 series and the first-gen Galaxy Z Flip. After updating the Galaxy S10 lineup and the Galaxy Note 10 Lite earlier today, Samsung has now begun rolling out One UI 2.5 to the Galaxy Note 10 series as well.

The Exynos 9825-powered global variants of the LTE Galaxy Note 10 (model number SM-N970F) and the Note 10+ (model number SM-N975F) are receiving the new update in Germany in the form of software version N97xFXXU6DTH7. The 5G variant of the latter (model number SM-N976B) has also joined the roster, albeit its update is available for download in the AUT region, which is Samsung’s code for Switzerland. As expected, the new firmware brings along the September 2020 security patches.

In terms of new features, One UI 2.5 should add Wireless DeX support, improvements to Samsung Keyboard and the Messages app, and many other under-the-hood changes. There is no change in the bootloader version, though, which means software-based downgrading is possible in theory.

We should see One UI 2.5 roll out to the Galaxy Note 10 series in more countries over the coming days and weeks. While you may try to fiddle with Samsung Smart Switch to skip the waiting queue and grab the update right now, using community-developed tools like Frija makes it a lot easier to download the new build directly from Samsung’s update server. In case you are planning to perform a manual flashing, do note that the aforementioned builds are not compatible with the Snapdragon Note 10 variants, i.e. the U.S. and Canadian models.
